Ph.D. en Educación (Saint Louis University). Premio Nacional de Ciencias de la Educación 2013, Chile. Actualmente es profesora titular e investigadora del CIAE de la Universidad de Chile, donde lidera estudios sobre docentes y su formación. Entre el 2008 y 2010 dirigió el Núcleo Milenio: La Profesión Docente en Chile, y entre 2007-2010 la aplicación en Chile del estudio internacional sobre formación docente IEA TEDS-M. Entre 1997 y 2002 coordinó el Proyecto de Fortalecimiento de la Formación Inicial Docente (Ver: Profesores para Chile: Historia de un Proyecto. Santiago: MINEDUC, 2002). Es miembro de consejos editoriales internacionales de British Education Research Journal, International Journal of Education Development, Teaching and Teacher Education y del College of Reviewers de Compare. Anteriormente fue profesora de las universidades Católica de Chile, Cardiff, Gales y Papua New Guinea. Entre sus publicaciones se destaca "Héroes o Villanos: La Profesión Docente en Chile". Professor, University of Chile´s Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, charged with its teacher´s research strand. Awarded in 2013 the Chilean National Prize for Educational Sciences. Has published studies on the teaching profession, teacher education and education policies from Papua New Guinea to Latin America and Chile, working with researchers in Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal and South Africa. Recent book publications include Héroes o Villanos: La Profesión Docente en Chile (2013), a national study on teacher´s view of their profession, a beginning teacher´s research review in Loughran, J, and Hamilton, M.L., Eds. (2016), International Handbook of Teacher Education and with P. Razquin a review of teacher education international policy in Clandinin, D.J. and Husu, J., Eds. (2017), The Sage Handbook of Research on Teacher Education. Is part of the Research Advisory Council of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) and international journal boards of Teaching and Teacher Education, British Education Research Journal, International Journal of Educational Development.
